Direct, Honest and Fun. A Great Read for Entrepreneurs

Review by Shann Vander Leek, 2010-08-24

Mike Michalowicz's straight-shooting approach about being an entrepreneur is a fun and sobering read. His personal experience along with his in your face approach about being in business is refreshing.

"TPE" provides a clear strategy for creating the foundation of a successful business. Whether you own your own business, are an aspiring entrepreneur, or simply want to learn more about operating an enterprise, this book is a MUST READ.

I think what I enjoyed most about this book are Mike's "Immutable Laws". Mike encourages us to define our values in a way that is grounded in integrity and with complete authenticity.

The book is full of tell it like it is, business wisdom that any entrepreneur can learn from. If you are a passionate, focused, fun, tenacious, self-aware person with a sense of humor...this book is for you!

You'll be on a roll

Review by Bruce R. Mancinelli, 2010-08-23

Have now read and reread The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur. When I read it the first time, I thought this was one of the best books of its kind that I have read. Now that I've read it more than once, I know it's one of the best books of its kind and probably once of the best books in general that I have read in some time. If you've been to a recent Barnes or Borders or scanned the Amazon web site and visited the business section you know how many self proclaimed "entrepreneurs" have books on the market that profess to entrepreneurial insights. It's great to finally have a really entrepreneur, still at it, writing a book that is as good as his successes have been.

There is humor and a lot to learn from Mike's experiences and all that he has packed in this little book that reads much bigger than it actually is. As a fellow entrepreneur it is great to see what Mike provides as practical advise to being a successful entrepreneur. The fact that the material is delivered with humor makes this a real page turner that will have you going back to rereading it over and over again.

As an Executive Director of a business incubator this book will now become standard reading for each and everyone of my incubating company founders and entrepreneurs. The TPE (Toilet Paper Entrepreneur) Tips, that summarize the key points throughout this book, should be post-its all over my business incubator or in the office of any start-up or emerging business.

There is a lot to like with this book and I can only hope that Mike is hard at it, writing another book as he drives Obsidian Launch.

Buy this book before you get to the last three sheets on the roll. Buy the book, you'll understand.

Stop the Excuses

Review by Giselle Valdes, 2010-08-17

I've read a lot of business books and they have bored me to death. The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur, on top of being informative, is actually written in plain English, and is really funny.
It does a great job on exposing the harm that negative limiting beliefs can have on entrepreneurial progress, and gives readers a very necessary kick in the behind to get moving.
Mike shows that there is a realistic path towards attainable success from the conception of an idea, full of passion, towards a manageable thriving business. He dispels the myth of the mandatory business plan and instead replaces it with three very doable documents.
I liked that he addresses the personal ethics that should be the backbone of any business. My favorite example is "life's too short for dicks".
I recommend this book for anyone who is still in the dream phase of starting a business, or who would like to reinvigorate their business with purpose and power. If you want to stop making excuses like saying you don't have the money, or the time, or the energy to start your business then do what you must to get this book. Scrounge through your couch for loose change, sell some lemonade, but DO IT! You will not be sorry.
